The wedding is over and the guest have headed home full of laughter, joy, and a hearty
helping of candy from your wedding candy buffet. Now the real adventure starts — married life!
We’ve all heard how hard it can be to keep romance alive, so here are a few tips to help you keep the sweetness in your romance. They would all be great for your sixth anniversary — traditionally represented by candy and iron — but work well any time you need to show your sweetie some love.
Sweet presents
Everyone loves a box of chocolates, but take it one step further. Pick up a sampling of your sweetheart’s childhood candy favorites, or make up a special gift bag filled with the sweets that decorated your wedding buffet. Or make a grand gesture with a luxurious treat like chocolate-covered strawberries or chocolate roses for extra romance. A candy necklace, bracelet or ring can also be a fun way to show you care, especially if there is a real bauble to accompany it!
Candy gram
This one takes a little more effort, but can be a ton of fun. Simply fill a jar or cute bag with your honey’s favorite treats and add a handwritten note. Don’t be afraid to go heavy on the puns such as “I can never get enough of your Hugs and Kisses” or “You’ll always be my SweetTart!”
You can take this one a step further by having it delivered by a friend or family member. Or check with your florist, many offer candy supplements to floral deliveries.
Plan a date
What better place to spend your candy anniversary than a trip to Hershey, PA? Get samples of candy, ride roller coasters or golf. Just spending time together is what’s important.
If a full-fledged getaway isn’t in the cards, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate locally. Many candy factories offer tours, and chances are, there is one near you. Or plan a date night at home watching a sweet movie like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or Chocolat. There are even candy-themed adult novelty items you can purchase for your night in, though we’ll let you research those on your own!
Whatever you do, just be sure to keep the sweetness in your romance by telling your spouse or significant other how much they mean to you. It’s worth it!
