Pool safety: Equipment that will ensure safe swimming

Keeping an eye on your children when using the pool goes a long way toward keeping them safe.

But a watchful eye isn’t enough. Consider installing some equipment to help you and your family stay safe around the pool. Here are a few ideas:

Fence – Install a four-foot high or taller fence around the pool, and use self-latching gates to help keep little ones from getting in on their own.

Cover – Use a lockable safety cover so kids can’t access the pool without an adult.

Alarms – If your house serves as a fourth wall surrounding a pool, consider installing door alarms so you are alerted when children go outside. If your pool is surrounded by a fence on all sides, add gate alarms to sound the alert when kids are entering the pool.

Drain covers – Be sure any pool or spa has compliant, working drain covers. If you aren’t sure, consult a professional.

Maintenance – Make sure all your equipment is in good working order, and test it often to make sure.

Equipment alone isn’t enough to ensure safe swimming, but coupled with a sharp eye and pool safety skills, it will help your pool become the place to be this summer. Stay safe, and don’t hesitate to call us with questions!
