Too busy holiday shopping to work out? Try both!

11153275_SWith all of the hustle and bustle these days, it’s appealing to work your fitness routine into your every day life. Why not work it into your holiday shopping experience too? Here are some humorous suggestions for maximizing your holiday hustle:

Black Friday Marathon:

You’ve made your list and you’ve checked it twice, now you’re going to  run, duck, and grab your way through the hordes of savvy shoppers willing to pummel you for a good deal.  If you’re an ambitious shopper and hit the streets Thanksgiving night, you may have logged several miles by the time stores close Friday night.

The Heavy Package Pile-up:

How many gifts can you carry in a single trip?  Hit specific muscle groups by trying a variety of different carrying strategies such as above your head, under both arms, and between the legs.  To maximize this workout try all three combinations at once!

The In-demand Toy Tower:

There are only two of the must have toys left in the store, and your kid absolutely must have one under the tree on Christmas day.  Unfortunately, they’re also strategically located on the top shelf of the toy store.  Climb fixtures, toys, and if absolutely necessary, other shoppers to get your prize.  Avoid loose fitting clothing or bags with straps while you tackle this task! Otherwise you may find yourself dangling on display while your toy makes it’s way home with another family.

The Fruit-Cake Toss:

You have 15 neighbors along both sides of your street and a limited amount of time to get your obligatory holiday baking in their hands before you’re due back at the Elementary School for your child’s holiday pageant.  Make your holiday cakes as dense as possible to maximize your opportunity for resistance exercise.  Maintain good form and balance while aiming your cake at neighbors doorbells from the sidewalk.  Rotate hands for an even workout, and if needed, give neighbors a cheery greeting. For additional resistance pull your baked goods in a sled harnessed to your waist!

While these exercise options might be a little over the top, we hope that they’ve made you smile and will encourage you to be active during the holiday season!
