Tips for keeping skin hydrated in summer

Many people struggle with dry skin in the winter due to the lack of humidity in the air. But summer can pose problems for skin, too, with sunshine, heat and increased perspiration added to the equation.

Why is keeping your skin hydrated so important, anyway? According to an article in Hello! Magazine, your skin has a protective film made of waters and lipids. When those water levels drop, your skin is more vulnerable to infection, and thus things like blackheads and acne.

Of course, water isn’t the only factor in keeping your skin healthy and safe from infections. Environmental factors like pollution, heat, air conditioning, humidity or dryness also affect your skin’s overall health and hydration, hence why it’s important to drink more water on warmer days.

If you are working toward maintaining healthier, clearer skin, make hydration a priority this summer. Your skin and your body will thank you!
