Think beyond wrapping paper this holiday season

Christmas is almost here, and that means you’re likely thinking about wrapping gifts. Have you ever thought about how much paper you throw away each year? There is a better way. Here a few nontraditional materials to use as gift wrap. Impress your friends and family with your creativity and ingenuity!

Old maps: We bet you have at least one lying around. Why not give it new life as gift wrap? Unless you’re a geography nerd, we doubt you’ll miss it.

Brown paper bag set isolated on white backgroundBrown paper bags: Before the days of reusable bags, brown paper bags dominated grocery stores. Now it’s time to put them to good use. Cut the sides and make a sheet out of them. If you want to add some extra flair, channel your inner artist and get the craft supplies out. Voila..you created art! This would be a perfect project for the kids, too.

Black and white repeating torn newspaper backgroundNewspaper: You’ve probably seen the cartoon section used as wrap. Impress your friends and humor them at the same time with re-purposed newsprint. You can also break out the crayons and go to town.

Boxes: Boxes are under-appreciated. Take any box from ordinary to fabulous with a bow, glitter, stickers…whatever strikes you at the moment. Of course they’ll love seeing a brand new pair of BooRoos inside!

Have a very happy and green holiday!
