This new year is a good opportunity to contemplate the spiritual waters in our lives. Looking back over the past year, we may find that tumultuous waters have tossed us “to and fro” like a “wave of the sea.” (Eph 4:4) To navigate the spiritual waters of life more safely we must exercise faith in Jesus Christ. We need to make faith-based resolutions that can change our spiritual lives. These resolutions need to focus on Christ’s exemplary life so that our own lives conform to his. In this way we can come unto his “living fountains of waters” (Rev 7:17) and drink of his “pure river of water of life.” (Rev 22:1) This new year’s eve, perhaps we should focus less on thirsting after champagne and Martinelli’s and focus more on drinking “the water of life freely.” (Rev 22:17) This year let us choose the water of life as our drink of choice.
