The RV way of life

83381157_M We know, we know. Soon, the open road will beckon, and you’ll heed the call in your shiny clean and fully stocked RV.

But before you set out on that next excellent adventure, you’ll want to make sure you’re protected from all the speed bumps that might slow you down. After you’ve packed the sunblock, bug spray, rain gear and OTC meds, take a moment to review your RV insurance coverage.

If you don’t have RV insurance, now is the time to seriously consider it. We all know that automobile insurance follows you wherever you go, so that even if you’re driving someone else’s car, or a rental, and you’re in an accident, you’re covered.

When it comes to your RV, though, your auto insurance is useless. RV insurance is a specialized insurance to cover occurrences unique to RV travel, such as broken windshields (have you ever really looked at how BIG they are?!), damaged awnings and broken gas bottles – all pricey to repair or replace on their own.

And what if your RV is so damaged that you can’t drive it or stay in it? Are you covered for rental cars and/or accommodations?

Now it’s time to plan that trip! Once you’ve squared away the question of RV insurance, it’s time to plan your trip. Here are a few terrific and helpful websites, listed in no particular order:

  1. RV Travel, Industry News & RV Dealers (gorving.com). This site’s mission is to inspire potential RVers, and they do it by raising RV awareness and sharing real-life stories from fellow RVers.
  2. RV Info – RV Trip Wizard. This one requires a paid membership, but it offers a lot, including a trip planner with info about more than 20,000 campgrounds and 57,000 points of interest and campground reviews from fellow RVers.
  3. Weekend camping trip, tips, reviews and campfire recipes – Weekend RV Adventures. This site is tailored to the weekend warrior, with tips, personal stories and more.

You protect all of your other investments, and an RV is definitely an investment. We’ll treat your home-away-from-home with the same care as your other assets. You can relax and enjoy yourself knowing enhanced coverage can protect any personal possessions you choose to take along, especially if you plan to do some work along the way with a mobile office.

If you have any questions or simply want to make sure your RV insurance is adequate, let us know. Then get out there, on the wide open road, and start making memories with a mind at ease.
