A fresh coat of paint can do wonders for your home, and that includes your garage door. But not all paint colors are created equally. Follow these guidelines to ensure your paint choice is not a total wash.
- Paint the garage doors in the same color as the house itself. This technique may also make your home appear larger.
- Paint the trim around the doors either to match the door or to match the trim on the rest of your home.
- Don’t paint the garage doors in the same accent color as the front door or shutters. Otherwise, it can draw too much attention to the garage doors and detract from the visual appeal.
- Stick to one color. You may be tempted to bring out some of the subtleties of the door, but this usually doesn’t work out well.
In addition to color choice, there are other ways to make your garage door pop. Lighting, colorful plants and flowers, or other decorate elements can make for an inviting look. Get creative!
