Take advantage of small crowds at our local monuments

27899350_SThere is so much to see in our fine state, but unfortunately a summer vacation can get hung up by big crowds, lines of buses and what can feel less like an intimate experience with nature and more like a line at an amusement park.

Fortunately, one of the benefits of being a local is that you can take advantage of our own national parks any time of year for a more well-rounded experience. Here are 4 destinations to be sure to check out this fall:

Arches National Park:
One of Utah’s most well-known natural playgrounds. Arches National Park offers a range of hikes and camping opportunities and over 2,000 natural arches and wonders that could leave any hiker wondering if they are exploring alien territory on the red planet.

Bryce Canyon National Park:
Rich colors offer a fall template year round as you explore the Hoodoos, Rainbow Point or take in the surprising star show once the sun sets. Bryce Canyon is well known for excellent snowshoeing once the snow starts to fall as well!

Grand Staircase-Escalante:
Take in an entire Petrified Forest or work your way through the famous Slot Canyons and stunning swaths of windblown sandstone. Grand Staircase also offers a surprising glimpse back in time with evidence of the long gone marine life that once thrived in the area with sea shells and even sharks teeth for the keen observer.

Goblin Valley State Park:
A slight deviation from the national parks, Goblin Valley offers an amazing and unique landscape that is sure to entice any weekend explorer. The large carved formations offer an opportunity for playing and is sure to fire up the imagination of kids and adults alike.
