Surprising uses of butter

4273919_S-1It’s an understatement to say that we at Chef Shamy Gourmet Foods love butter. We ADORE our all-natural, preservative-free butters on veggies, bread, popcorn, desserts and more. We’re always trying to think of new ways to enjoy the rich, creamy flavors.

It turns out butter has a lot more uses than we ever imagined — at least according to this Reader’s Digest article. Check out some of these “super uses” for our favorite spread.

  • Keeping cheese mold-free. Did you know that you can lightly rub butter on semi-hard cheeses to keep them fresh and free of mold? “Each time you use the cheese, coat the cut edge with butter before you re-wrap it and put it back in the fridge,” advises Reader’s Digest.
  • Ridding your hands of a fishy odor. Sometimes soap just doesn’t do the trick on its own. Try rubbing butter between your hands before washing with warm water and soap. Boom! Your hands are fresh and clean again
  • Removing ink stains from doll faces. “Uh-oh, one of the kids used a pen to draw a new smile on that favorite doll’s face,” writes Reader’s Digest. “Try eliminating the marks by rubbing butter on them and leaving the doll face-up in the sun for a few days. Wash it off with soap and water.”
