Proudly display those merit badges – your Scout has earned them!

First Aid BadgeOur youth have a tremendous opportunity to learn great life lessons and develop maturity through the programs provided in Boy Scouts of America activities. Scouts are encouraged to live up to high standards of conduct, serve in their communities and participate in outdoor activities that teach both self-reliance and teamwork.

Conservation BadgeHere at the Scout Store, we’re proud to support the youth and families that get involved in Scouting! That’s why today, we’re sharing this friendly reminder that a great way to support your Scout is by making sure to keep up with properly displaying the merit badges, patches and other decorations they’ve earned.

It’s encouraging to our youth when their parents, peers, leaders and community recognize their efforts and hard work. That’s why we suggest that a simple way to show your enthusiasm is by making an effort to keep up with attaching those patches to his Scout uniform, so he can display them with pride.

It doesn’t have to be a difficult process, either. Take the stress out of attaching those merit badges by foregoing the sewing. You can use an adhesive product to save time and hassle. We recommend using Badge Magic Patch Adhesive to “peel and stick” on the patches. It’s so easy, even your youngest Scouts will be able to attach their merit badges without stitch marks or crooked placement.  (You can see how it works by watching this how-to video.)

Just think about it. Your Scout is enthusiastic, goal-oriented and works hard to earn his merit badges. Camping trips, group projects and activities are the fun part of the process, and you want to proudly display the merit badges, patches and decorations he’s earned! You can do that by attaching the badges he’s awarded during the award ceremony, or as soon as possible after he gets home. These rites of passage are particularly meaningful for Cub Scouts if the award is attached to the uniform while the Cub is in front of the audience and facing them. It’s a great way to motivate them to continue to achieve and earn that positive reinforcement!

Keep in mind, Badges of Rank for Boy Scouts are usually attached after the previous rank badge is removed. (Badge Magic Patch Adhesive can make that easier, too.)
