Dr. Payam Moazzaz, a spinal surgeon at the second-ever hospital in California to offer patients robotic spinal surgery, says the reduction in radiation for patients also spares doctors from exposure to harmful rays. Instead of a half-dozen X-rays per each surgical screw implanted, only two are needed with robotic surgery.
