Some major players in the golf industry have a bright idea of how you can shave your score in half and speed up your game.
Golf Digest, the PGA and the USGA suggest you shorten up your … back nine or your front nine. Either way, the golf organizations are endorsing a 
According to Golfchannel.com, the USGA is trying to ”fix the pace-of-play problem in golf.” They’re also spreading the word that nine-hole rounds are compatible with the Rules of Golf and the USGA Handicap System.
Here are some benefits (some tongue-in-cheek) to the suggested shorter rounds of golf:
- Fewer lost balls.
- More time to watch golf on TV.
- Less money spent at the beer cart. (Or is that a good thing?)
- More money to spend on golf accessories.
- Wait, can we pick which nine holes to play?
- Easier to break 80, as one commenter on the Golfchannel.com story wrote.
- More affordable to play nine holes than 18. Some courses even offer discounts for only playing nine (check out this site for courses near you).
- You can golf more often because it takes less time.
- It’s less taxing physically and easier to walk the course.
- Your significant other might think you’re just being slow taking the trash out while you’re actually playing a fast round (and pulling a fast one)!
