Murray Parks and Recreation: We invite you to dive into fitness and fun

Are you looking forward to warmer temperatures and summer fun activities? We know we are! The upcoming Memorial Day weekend – only just a short time away at the end of this month – is the opening of the outdoor Murray Parks and Recreation swimming pool facility in Murray Park.

The pool is an incredibly popular local attraction during the summer months. Because it’s an outdoor facility, the Murray Aquatics Center is only open when the weather permits. The summer season at the pool begins on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, and the facility will be open to the public through Labor Day.

Please note, that the Murray Aquatic Center does close during the summer during inclement weather. If the temperature falls below 65 degrees Fahrenheit, during heavy windstorms or precipitation, or in case of thunder and lightning, the pool will close for safety.

We will also hold pool checks for the last 10 minutes of each hour. During the safety checks, everyone must leave the pool. We encourage everyone to make use of the time to change diapers, reapply sunscreen, use the restroom and get water.

Need more information? The pool is the ultimate summer fun for the whole family – even if we do say so ourselves. The Murray Aquatic Center features a giant 4-story water slide, 3-meter diving boards, zero depth entry beach area, water toy features and plenty of deck and grass space.

In fact, the pool is so much fun that it’s easy to lose track of time – so don’t forget the sunblock. Or, if the summer sun and heat outdoors isn’t your thing, keep in mind that the Murray Aquatics Center is one of three swimming pools we have open to the public in Murray Park – and the other two are inside a building.

The Park Center is located just west of the outdoor pool. The facility features an indoor lap pool and leisure pool that have both been refurbished within the last two years, so they’re in tip top shape. We also offer swimming lessons, water aerobics programs for seniors and lifeguard safety classes for youth – so you’ll stay in great shape at our indoor pools, as well.

So this summer, we invite you to bring the whole family and take the plunge with us at Murray Parks and Recreation! Visit us online for more information.
