Don’t like the idea of dropping off your child at preschool? Consider enrolling him or her in a parent-child preschool, where you can be there for every aha moment your child experiences. One such school, in Wenatchee, Wash., has been going strong since 1969.
Parents of Greater Wenatchee Parent-Child Preschool students accompany their youngsters into the classroom, where together they tackle the big subjects: colors, the ABC’s, shapes, numbers, singalongs. Parents never miss a moment of discovery.
One mom swears by the system.
“I was completely sold on the experience of learning alongside my child, witnessing and celebrating his discoveries as he made them,” writes Wendy Hulse in the Wenatchee World. “I was also thrilled to be personally involved, getting to know all his classmates and their parents, and sometimes grandparents, in the process.”
Known as a “cooperative school,” GWPCP encourages teachers, parents and grandparents to work together to educate their children, adhering to the adage: “It takes a village to raise a child.”
