Milk does a (runner’s) body good

It’s common for athletes, especially runners to “carb up” before performing in a sporting event. Knowing what to eat before, during and after running will not only help runners maintain their energy, but it will also help them recuperate faster.

glass of chocolate milkshake on the tableChocolate milk is a favorite among runners. And, it turns out it’s good for them, too.  Milk’s liquid quality allows for it to be more quickly absorbed into the blood. Chocolate milk can provide the protein needed to replenish muscles. To ensure you have the best chance of reloading carbohydrates back into the muscle tissue, it’s recommended that you drink this beverage within 45 minutes of your workout.

If milk’s not your thing, you can still do your body good by consuming carbohydrates and proteins. Protein is key in rebuilding and accelerating muscle growth. Lean proteins such as chicken, turkey and fish are great options.

Another great pre-workout option is EM•PACT energy and endurance formula. It delivers the fuel and biochemicals your body needs before rigorous exercise and can help you maximize your energy production and improve your athletic endurance.* And, it has a great citrus flavor!
