Meet the animals of Whispering Pines Family Farm

We love animals here at Whispering Pines Family Farm, and we love introducing them to our visitors. In fact, that’s what our camps are all about — getting children to spend some time outdoors to learn about animals and nature all while having fun! And with all these crazy critters around, who wouldn’t have a good time?

First, we’d like you to meet Sugar and Oreo, our Pygmy goats:

Did you know that Pygmy goats are tiny compared to other goats? They only grow to be about 16 to 23 inches tall. A ruler is only about 12 inches, so a tall Pygmy goat (which would typically be a male) is only about as tall as two rulers! Sugar is very nice, and Oreo is very shy. Here’s a picture of Sugar and Oreo with our sheep, Rabil and Vanilla:

Did you know there are over 1 million sheep in the world? These guys are vegetarians, so no meat for them. They like to eat grass and feed. Sheep like to stay together, so Rabil and Vanilla are good buddies who stay pretty close to each other. And they’re pretty good friends with all the other animals, too.

Now here’s a fun group that loves to hang out with our visitors — our horses, mini horses and our mini donkey:

From left to right, meet Bubba, Libby, Lance, Fiona and Penny. Bubba and Lance are mini horses, and Fiona is a mini donkey. Out of this group of characters, Libby is the boss. But Bubba thinks he’s the boss!

There are lots more animals at Whispering Pines Family Farm, and they’re looking forward to meeting this year’s visitors. Our day camps are for children ages 6-11. If you’d like to meet our animals, explore the pond, hang out in our garden and have many more farm adventures, give us a call!
