Making family time

“The family is one of nature’s masterpieces.” – George Santayana

How much time are you spending with your family each week? With school, after-school activities, work, house keeping and other daily tasks that you may face, having regular family time becomes 13861817_Sincreasingly difficult. Studies have shown that kids who spend more time with the families get better grades and preform better in the classroom than those children who spend less time with their families. So where do you find time? Here are some of the top ways to spend time with family:

1. Family meals.
Whether you sit down and eat together at home or go out to a restaurant together on the weekend, family meals are important. Skip the drive-thru and try out the dinner table!

2. Cooking together.
Why not go a step further than eating a meal together? Get the whole family together to plan and cook a full meal or simply bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies together. Either way, you’ll have your family working together and enjoying each other’s company.

3. Museum Trip
When was the last time that you visited a museum? Take the whole family and enjoy the day learning about history, art and each other.

4. Camping
Weather permitting, camping is a great activity to get the family together. You’ll have to work together to build a tent, build a fire and prepare your meals.

5. Board games
Such a classic! Playing a board game with your family is a great way to spend time together, especially when the winter weather demands you stay inside. Your family will be laughing and bonding before you know it!
