Make Valentine’s Day extra special

29864194_SEveryone knows that flowers are a staple and an absolute must on Valentine’s Day.

But you also know that no matter how scrumptious the bouquet is, you can’t just hand it over and be done. There has got to be more–for both men and women. Believe it or not statistics, show that men like to be appreciated on this day of lovers as well. So what can you do to make it special for everyone?

Here are some thoughtful gifts that are pretty universally appreciated by both men and women:

  • A surprise breakfast in bed is always a great way to start out the day–and not just a run to McDonalds either. Something hand made that takes an extra special effort creating is sure to win over even the most reluctant romantic.
  • Taking the day to go somewhere you normally wouldn’t.  Go for a long road trip to some part of the state you haven’t been, but have always wanted to go.
  • Do a couples only getaway. Leave the kids behind and for a night or even the weekend and take time to just get to know each other again. There are so many gorgeous getaways close by! Take advantage of one of them. You won’t be sorry.
  • Get a couples massage. Even if you can’t do a getaway, there are plenty of spas around town that do couples massages. And just for that hour or so you can feel like you have had an escape from the day-to-day grind. Almost nothing can compare to a really good massage.
  • If an expensive dinner is out of the budget, you can still make a romantic meal at home. Cooking together is one of the most romantic things you can do together. Do something gourmet and out of the ordinary. A box of macaroni and cheese is not going to cut it here.

The important thing is making your partner feel special and appreciated and loved. And to start off the whole day in the best way possible, you know that flowers say it best!
