So you studied hard and earned the grades to attend a university. Congratulations! Most people would say it sounds like you’re on the road to success, and are making all the right decisions. But what if your plans were derailed because you came from a poor family, and didn’t have the money you needed for living expenses and tuition to stay in school and finish your studies?
We all hope that we’d have the strength, determination and resourcefulness to finish our degree and follow our dreams, but sometimes a good person still needs a little help to make that happen. Today, we wanted to share the success story of a 25-year old young woman from Managua, Nicaragua, a college student who is on the path to realize her goals – with a little help from Cause for Hope!

In 2012, Anielka Corrales Rodenzo was a college student at a university. Due to some severe financial challenges, she suffered a setback when she had to drop out of school and move back into her family home with her mother and grandfather. But Anielka and her family didn’t give up. When she heard about the training programs offered through Cause for Hope, Anielka’s mother stayed home to care for her grandfather so that she could take the opportunity to attend.
Our mission at Cause for Hope is to provide educational opportunities for good, hardworking people searching for the information and support they need to achieve their goals and become financially self-reliant. Just like Anielka, many of our participants are smart and motivated to succeed. We help them to grow self-owned businesses, find work and learn the skills to manage their financial future.
After taking business courses that help participants learn the skills to start a small business, Anielka – who showed great motivation, promise and talent in her classes – started a small sales business with $32 her mother had loaned to her. With the encouragement and support of her family, Anielka was motivated to take on this new challenge – with outstanding results!
Anielka reports that she now earns enough money from her business each month (about $343) to cover about 70 percent of her family’s living expenses. She will also be able to meet the goal she thought she’d given up, when Anielka returns to study at the university and finish the degree she started.
We are so pleased that the programs and services offered by Cause for Hope have the power to successfully transform lives and make a difference, as it did for Anielka and her family! We invite you to get involved and learn more about how you can be involved in this important work today.
