And Aly Xiong spent the night on top of the roof at Gethsemane Elementary School in Maplewood, Minn., after the students met his challenge to raise $20,000 to buy iPads for the students.
What do those individuals all have in common? They’re all school principals who inspired their students to raise money for their school by offering to do something crazy, if the kids met their fundraising goals.
Getting students to take part in a school fundraiser isn’t easy. But a little motivation, like seeing the principal kiss a pig, can go a long way in getting students excited about fundraising. School children will accept almost any challenge, if it involves the principal sticking his neck out in a chicken suit.
So when it comes time to plan your next school fundraiser, don’t be shy about asking the principal to get involved. Principal participation in fundraising gags can really unite the entire student body to get behind the cause. After all, who wouldn’t want to shave the head of their principal?
