You need will power to lose weight, right? What if you don’t have much will power? Before you can ever work out your muscles, you’ll need to work out your will power. It can be done! Read on to learn tips for building your will into your superpower.
Set realistic goals — both short-term and long-term ones. Be honest with yourself, and know what you’re capable of committing to. “You can hope to lose 20 lbs by your high school reunion, but if that reunion is a month away, you’re most likely setting yourself up for failure,” writes Jennifer Cohen, a Forbes.com contributor. “A gradual building of good habits may even be more effective than a sudden change.”
Write down everything. Be accountable to yourself. If you’re trying to lose weight, keep a log of all your weight-loss efforts. ”When you write down your actions in what you eat and how and when you exercise, you can examine your actions objectively and make changes in the future,” Cohen writes. “One study by Kaiser Permanente found that people who wrote down everything they ate doubled their weight loss.”
