Believe it or not, your feet take a pounding over the course of a pregnancy! Most women expect an expanding waistline, but aren’t always prepared for aches and pains from feet under the pressure of extra weight – and even a change in the way you walk.

For some women the normal changes of pregnancy can lead to swelling in their feet and ankles, or even a permanent change in foot size or shape. To avoid any long term problems, it’s best to take proper care of your feet all throughout pregnancy.
You can do this by trying to stay off of them as much as possible, and always wearing supportive shoes. Now is the time to ditch those heels! You’ll also want to kick off the strappy styles for awhile. Bring on the foot cushions, or try wearing pads in your shoes to reduce pain or swelling.
Gentle exercise - such as walking, swimming, or yoga – is also recommended. Exercise will improve circulation and help reduce swelling. As your pregnancies progresses, just be sure to make time in your schedule for rest afterwards – and time to put your feet up!
Always be sure to let your doctor know any time you’re experiencing painful swelling. Most often, it’s normal for later in your pregnancy – but you’ll definitely want to take good care of yourself during this time.
