Have you ever wondered if there are dos and don’ts of being a nail salon patron? Well, the reality is there are rules of etiquette to follow just as with any beauty service. For example, you wouldn’t neglect to tip your hair stylist, would you? Here are three ways to grow your client-nail technician relationship.
- Start a conversation: Your experience as a salon service provider will be much more pleasant when the relationship between a client and a nail technician is more akin to a growing friendship than a formal relationship. For example, you might ask about your client’s family or why she chose this particular career. Most will welcome an invite to share a bit about their knowledge and life experiences with a client. It often proves to be a welcomed respite during what may be a long workday.
Leave a generous tip. Any former beautician or nail tech will readily share with you the challenges of providing top-notch salon services despite a lack of recognition. Think about it. When you receive a nail salon’s services to look your best, the expertise rendered by a salon technician should be acknowledged with the green stuff. Don’t be shy about dishing out a serving of praise for the expertise rendered that made you look fabulous! Consider your technician is your friend. And remember that a generous tip can go a long way in cementing a valuable partnership between a client and a salon technician.- Be on time: If you reside in a smaller metropolitan area where beauty salons may only serve a handful of clients a day, often you may simply walk in and ask for an appointment immediately. Even so, salon staff always appreciates those clientele that schedule an appointment beforehand. If you are running late for your manicure appointment, pull your car over to the side of the road and call the salon to alert them that you will be a few minutes late. If something came up at the last minute that derailed your plans for the day, please give salon staff the courtesy of a call. Don’t be a no-show.
Everyone appreciates politeness. Building a cordial relationship with salon staff may prove to be the start to a great relationship. Remember, a little bit of kindness can go a long way!
