There’s just no stopping it. Babies put EVERYTHING in their mouths. New moms are often baffled by it. And it only gets worse when baby is teething. The truth is, nothing can be done to stop it. One spot that is the cause of so much worry is the shopping cart handle. Unless parents want to carry baby all throughout the store, which is nearly impossible while trying to get some productive shopping done, baby needs to sit in the front of the shopping cart. And then the inevitable happens – baby’s mouth goes right for the shopping cart handle.
Some moms are beside themselves at the thought of this. They wonder who has touched that handle and are terrified by the number of germs that could be living on that surface. And, their fears aren’t unfounded. One study showed a high amount of fecal matter on shopping cart surfaces.
