Market Street Talent recruiting specialist Jennifer Gray said that although the summer is a notoriously slow season for the industry, smart job seekers will be timing their search to coincide with the same start dates scheduled for students heading back for classes.
Many experts in the industry, including hiring coaches and business consultants, agree with Gray’s insight and recommend that job seekers be ready for the fall job hunt in advance.
In a recent article by Chad Brooks (@cbrooks76) for Business News Daily, Brooks interviews and gets answers from New York-based career coach Kathleen Brady, author of GET A JOB! 10 Steps to Career Success, on why fall is the best time for job seekers.
Brady explains the situation this way: “By mid-August … through Thanksgiving, hiring picks up again as employers focus on meeting the objectives and targets set for the year.”
She also gives more information about the annual hiring cycles throughout the year, saying “The best season for hiring is the fall. Mid-August through October is very busy. Employers refocus after the summer. Department heads push for an increase to take advantage of remaining budget for the year. Many realize they must hire before January or they risk losing allocated funds for new employees. They also want to get new recruits in before the holiday season mindset takes hold in November.”
