The Chef Shamy family loves to get the entire family around one table and share a delicious meal. We think dinner time is for checking in with each other and checking out of the daily grind. Chef Shamy also believes in good old-fashioned fun, so during this season of family festivities, we bring you three games to play once the dinner dishes are cleared!
Guess Who!
Think you know your family members? Give each player a notecard and pen. During dinner, ask everyone to describe themselves in three words. Family members can decide whether they want to write their words out in list (silly, goofy, artistic) or phrase (more butter, please) format. Players then turn their cards in to the maker of the meal who mixes them up and reads them aloud over dessert. Then it’s time to match the description with the family member!
A to Z
Take turns around the dinner table naming items in a category in alphabetical order. For example, name dinner conversation topics like Afterschool Activities, Basketball or Chef Shamy’s Delicious Butters. Try naming items on the dinner table like Asparagus, Butter Knife or perhaps, Chef Shamy’s Delicious Butters. When a family member is stumped, he or she is out of the round. Continue until one family member is victorious, then choose a new category and play again!
The Famous Person (or Butter) Game
Using blank white mailing labels and a marker, create stickers containing a famous person’s name for each family member. Each person must wear a sticker on their forehead (taking care that they do not see the name on their own sticker) and then figure out their own celebrity by asking the other family members questions.
Our Chef Shamy family’s stickers read something like this: Honey Butter with Cinnamon & Brown Sugar, Honey Butter with Real Vanilla Bean, Honey Butter with Passionfruit – you get the idea. We can’t help it, we think our butters are the real celebrities. Wishing you lots of laughs around the dinner table tonight!
