If you’re the kind of skier who loves fresh powder and some awesome adventure, here’s Forbes magazine’s top four destinations for heli-skiing in North America. Interested? Here the list:
- Whistler, British Columbia. A chopper will fly you to the Coastal Range near Whistler and Pemberton for some intermediate to advanced skiing. Afterward, there’s a great place called Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler Village where you can grab something to drink.
- Cordova, Alaska. Explore 1,500 square miles of terrain in the spectacular Chugach Mountains. Points North Heli-Adventures is the only company that ferries skiers to the southeastern side of this mountain range, Forbes says, so you’ll have the place to yourself. Lodging? Check out the Points North Orca Adventure Lodge, a former 19th century fish cannery.
- Telluride, Colorado. If you’re looking for vertical drops as high as 3,000 feet, the San Juan Mountains are worth exploring. Telluride Helitrax provides you with access to about 200 square miles of terrain. Afterward, Hotel Madeline Telluride in Mountain Village sports luxury rooms, a spa and restaurant.
- Jackson Hole, Wyoming. High Mountain Heli-Skiing offers a six-run package that takes you to the Tetons and other nearby mountains. The day also includes lunch at the Heli-Deli. Forbes recommends the Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole for lodging with a chill western ambiance.
