Five reasons why candy bar fundraisers work so well

Food fundraisers are developing a bad rap in some school districts that are trying to be more health-conscious. That’s really unfortunate because restricting sales of tried and true products like candy bars deprives schools of one of the biggest sources of additional funds to support education.

Candy bars have long been one of the most popular fundraisers of all time. Here’s why:

1. Chocolate is popular. Most people love chocolate! And even if you don’t have a sweet tooth, chances are you know somebody who does. In addition, chocolate bars appeal to men and women, adults and children. And with the holidays fast approaching, who wouldn’t love getting a chocolate bar in their stocking?

2. Chocolate is inexpensive. At $1 a bar, who can say no to buying a bar (or two or three) to help out a good cause?

3. Candy bars yield big profits. Chocolate bars don’t cost your school group a lot and can yield profits of up to 50 percent.

4. Candy bars are idea for all age groups. Children of all ages can sell chocolate. Even parents can get into the action by taking a box (or two!) to work.

5. No waiting involved. Some people don’t like to wait for something they ordered, especially when they have to pay for it in advance. With chocolate bars,  you also don’t have to worry about waiting for the products to arrive and going back out to deliver the product.
