For many of us, learning the life skills necessary for a successful future begins at home. Any person with the talent, work ethic and drive to better him or herself should be able to succeed – right?
But what if you were born into a cycle of generational poverty? Without support from parents, teachers and role models, learning the life skills you’d need would be a difficult – if not impossible – task. That’s why the Cause for Hope staff is working to give people the support, knowledge and encouragement they need to break the cycle and build a better future.
We know that a critical key to the success of our participants is family support. We work with parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins, many of whom already operate self-owned small businesses, to give them the tools they need to improve their lives. You can see this if you read some of our success stories. You’ll notice a common thread: Our participants are working and learning as families.
This approach is so important because we know that families share success! Changing the life of one person can have positive, long lasting benefits for his or her community of loved ones, friends and neighbors. We want to foster those relationships and build new friendships by providing Cause for Hope mentors who can help.
