Effect of healthy eating on workplace productivity

Wanna be more productive at work? Tired of feeling, well, tired, on the job? New research suggests that workers who eat healthily — and avoid raiding the company snack machine TOO often — accomplish lots more on the job. Turns out, an apple a day keeps the … boss off your back.

Numbers-wise, the effect of healthy eating appears to play a major role in gettin’ stuff done. The study found that employees who eat healthily throughout the day are one-fourth more likely to perform better in their jobs. Also, the study discovered that folks who eat five or more servings of fruits and veggies four or more times a week are 20 percent more likely to be more productive at their jobs.

In addition to proper nutrition, the study found that exercising is also a big factor in worker productivity. Workers who put in a solid half-hour of exercise three times a week are 15 percent more likely to have higher job performance.

It makes sense; the study isn’t shocking. But seeing the effects of healthy eating quantified in this way really hammers home the point. Want that big promotion and raise? Eat your spinach.
