District celebrates on-site education with 575 separate trips

world map vintage artwork perfect background with spaceIn a time when several schools are cutting back on field trips, one district is putting them on center stage. Last year alone, the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division took 575 separate school field trips – a number most schools can’t even begin to reach.

The school is located in Alberta, Canada, and it’s a number that teachers have fought hard to achieve over the past several semesters. And though they say nearing 600 might seem like a lot (especially when finding the budget), teachers said not all trips were extravagant or even full-day operations.

By mixing smaller trips and larger ones throughout the year, however, the district was able to fit in more experiences, and more trips, without going broke in the process. It’s a plan they said they hope to continue, as well as share with others for an ongoing goal.
