Every year, back pain sends more patients to doctors than any condition other than the common cold. Considering the immense strain put on our backs every day, this shouldn’t be surprising. Along with receiving chiropractic care, we can also reduce our back-breaking habits by making a few simple changes in lifestyle.
Purse Pain: Have you ever considered that the weight of your purse could be causing shoulder tension and back pain? Your shoulders can become imbalanced, and this can cause issues with your back.
Bummer Bike Seat: Any avid bikers out there? The height and tilt of your bike seat could be inadvertently causing excess pressure on your spine. Researchers tilted 40 bikers’ seats down by 10-15 percent, and 72 percent of the group said their back pain went away entirely.
A few other culprits of back pain include sleeping on an old mattress, not exercising enough and watching three or more hours of television a day. If you absolutely can’t miss your shows, try doing some stretches during the commercial breaks to give your lower back a break.
Sometimes all it takes is a few minor life changes to drastically reduce your pain and discomfort. And for back pain that goes deeper than simply stretching more or cutting back on TV, we are always here, ready to adjust!
