Celebrate the holidays Dickey’s style

christmasHoliday traditions in the South run deep. In fact, many of the holiday traditions that we know today began during Civil War times. From The Smithsonian Associates we learn, “Many Southern diaries tell the story of Santa running the blockaded ports in Dixie to fill children’s stockings with what little the parents could spare to make the day special for them. Even General Sherman’s soldiers played Santa to impoverished Southern children by attaching tree-branch antlers to their horses and bringing food to the starving families in the war-ravaged Georgia countryside.”

And, did you know Lousiana was the first state to make Christmas a holiday in 1830? So, it is true that all good things do come from down South!

In fact, our classic smoked turkey or Cajun fried turkey will be a delicious appearance at the Thanksgiving or Christmas table. (Smoked turkey gives that perfect crunch on the outside while keeping things juicy and tender on the inside. Plus, you’ll love our tongue-tingling combination of Cajun seasonings!) And, not to mention our barbecue honey ham or our spiral cut honey ham…you have never tasted ham this good!

Make your entertaining easy by ordering an entire meal complete with cornbread dressing, gravy, baked potato casserole, green beans with bacon and 12 buttery rolls. Select from our mouth-watering homemade pumpkin or pecan pies. Check our website for local offerings and to place your order.

Certainly a southern holiday meal wouldn’t be complete without iced tea. Miss Ollie’s sweet tea is our drink of choice and you can order it by the gallon to serve with your meal or dessert.

Most of all, we wish you a wonderful holiday season with warmth, laughter and memories made with friends and family!
