Can Botox really prevent wrinkles?

When most people hear the word “Botox” they either think of celebrities who receive injections or women in their 40s and 50s who want to stop the barrage of wrinkles that come with aging.

But women (and men, too!) are turning to Botox at an earlier age — sometimes in their early 20s. Are these “preventative” injections a good idea?

According to some doctors and specialists, using Botox to prevent wrinkles rather than to get rid of them after they already exist is actually more effective.

We found this article on Oprah Winfrey’s website. The expert consulted for the article says Botox can soften deep wrinkles on more mature women, but it does, indeed, work better when used before wrinkles have a chance to settle in for a long stay.

“If you want Botox to be part of your arsenal, the best time to start is when the lines in your face are as yet either unformed or minimally visible,” the article states.

Turns out the 20-somethings requesting Botox treatments have the right idea!
