Add a few new throw pillows, a brightly colored vase with dried florals, unique candlesticks or a new lamp all help keep your living space current while adding fresh splashes of color or interest. On that note, if you are in the market for new furniture it is usually a good idea to stick with timeless classic pieces of furniture with good bones, clean lines and neutral upholstery to avoid having to replace as often.
Window treatments: A few new panels can bring color and warmth to a room and help tie everything together. If you are dealing with low ceilings it sometimes helps to place the curtain rod higher up by the ceiling to add height and dimension to the room. Curtains should brush the floor or in some instances may hit right below the window.
Cozy factor: A comfortable and beautiful throw draped over a chair or couch always sets the stage for an inviting room. Additional lighting with table lamps, floor lamps, sconces etc. brings warmth and depth as well.
Mirrors: We love mirrors. They bring light, depth and space to a room. They are workhorses! They can also fill a large area while still looking great.
Get creative: Are you short on storage space and you need to add some visual interest to a wall? Try this trick: everyday items can make great wall art when hung in multiples. For example, vintage muffin pans hung in the kitchen look unique and become easier to find when baking.
