The B-29 was designed in 1940 to replace the B-17 and B-24. Its great range made it ideal for long overwater bombing raids against Japan during WWII. Ours was lovingly restored by museum volunteer and former B-29 flight test engineer Mel Blanscett who worked on it for more than 11 years – mostly by himself!
