Are you a green thumb who spends every waking moment working in the garden? The team at Park City Nursery knows exactly how you feel!
Unfortunately, cold temperatures, ice and snowfall put a damper on most outdoor activities during the winter. While this can be extremely frustrating for those of us who love spending time planting, there are gardening related things that you can do in order to stay busy during these long months. Here are a few of our suggestions:
Do some indoor gardening
You might not be able to grow the array of vegetables that you have outside, but gardening indoors can be a very rewarding experience. Not only do plants and flowers liven up your living environment, they also contribute extra oxygen to your home and require minimal but engaging care. By spending your mornings lazily watering and caring for your indoor plants, the long winter will pass in no time.
Visit an indoor garden
Even if you have a variety of indoor plants to take care of, it can still be depressing not being able to go out and really get your hands dirty in all of that fresh dirt. To lift your spirits take a trip to an indoor garden. Whether you visit the gardening section of a big box retailer, just to see what plants are in season, or make a trek to a nearby botanical gardens instead, visiting a place with lots of plants will have you feeling better in no time.
Pick up some garden catalogs and books
If you find yourself finding it hard to cope with the fall and winter seasons, go to your local library or book store and pick up some gardening and planting books. It’s never too early to start planning your garden for the coming season. Want to try planting something you’ve never worked with before? Do a little research first! Let your imagination run free, and it’ll be spring before you know it!
The winter can be long and tedious, but there are ways to counteract your boredom! We hope these suggestions will help you get started.
