Now that the costumes and candy of Halloween are behind us, November brings with it another major holiday for the people of the United States. Many spend weeks planning this family get-together (otherwise known as Thanksgiving), especially the complex and varied meal that goes along with it.
From the turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce to the yams and pumpkin pies, the cooks of the family spend days standing over the stove and preparing the delicious meal. While some may think this is a glutenous season, it is important to remember some of the health benefits of the foods we eat on Thanksgiving. Cranberries, for instance, have high antioxidant content. These berries are able to prevent some types of cancer, improve immunity and lower blood pressure. Even turkey itself is full of protein, vitamins and tryptophan, which can boost the immune system. And pumpkins are full of vitamins and fiber.
Thanksgiving is not solely about the delicious meal you’ll likely partake in; it is also about appreciating the many wonderful things in your life. Our chiropractic clinic is very appreciative and thankful for all of our outgoing patients. We are thankful that we are able to help patients gain the flexibility and function necessary to get back to full movement in their everyday lives.
If you have had aches and pains in your back or neck but are becoming stronger with the help of chiropractic care, be sure to give thanks for improved health. This holiday season, be grateful for your loved ones, your health and the wonderful meal you’ll be sharing with family and friends. Spend Thanksgiving talking and laughing with your relatives. Go for a walk or play a game of football. Enjoy life and appreciate these happy days throughout the holiday season.
