If you’ve seen those fun-loving Liberty Tax professionals hamming it up on street corners, you know they are serving a vital role: Keeping taxpayers smiling! With a tax code that is, according to the IRS, collectively costing us 7.6 billion hours a year on tax compliance, we need something to smile about!
One taxpayer used the experience of an audit to recreate some very convincing audit notices as a joke. (What taxpayer doesn’t appreciate the opportunity to see the funny side to taxes, especially for those who find it hard to believe there is a funny side to taxation?)
And what taxpayer hasn’t dreamed of staging a mock funeral for the IRS? Admit it: You’ve dreamed of this day! We often under value how important a well-planned prank poking fun at our crazy tax code can be to raising taxpayer morale.
Of course, nothing proves to evoke laughter more than when the joke is at the expense of the IRS. But, those pokes at our beloved IRS may pale in comparison to the heat being poured upon the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Some have opined that the EPA actually stands for “Endless Pranksters Abound.”
If you’ve got a beef with the IRS, just consider for a moment the tension-relief they provide the nation with their headline-inducing, crazy escapades that included training line-dancing IRS agents on the taxpayer’s dime. We’re still laughing over the agency’s chorus line. After all, poking fun at taxes goes back to the original Tea Party.
Consider a tax preparer with a great sense of humor. It’s the best medicine for those “taxing” times!
