Colonel Paul Tibbets once said of his famous aircraft the Enola Gay that “it was probably the most beautiful piece of machinery that any pilot ever flew. I pushed it very hard and it never failed me.” Tibbets trained for the mission that dropped the atomic bomb at Wendover Field.
