It isn’t always easy to taking the steps to grow and mature. It can be particularly difficult if you’re lacking the basic support systems – from family, friends, teachers and mentors – that so many of us are blessed to enjoy.
That was the situation experienced by Anthony Guardado, of Choluteca, Honduras. Anthony is a good young person with a desire to do the right thing. As a teen, he discovered and joined the Latter Day Saints Church and decided to serve a mission to share his faith. But when he returned home, he encountered difficulty in taking the next steps to becoming a self-reliant adult.
Anthony’s dreams are the same ones that many people have for their life and future. He wanted to get married, start a family, and buy a home. But because of his background and lack of education, he didn’t have a lot of options. Due to his set of challenges, Anthony couldn’t keep moving forward toward his goal of a full and happy life.
At Cause for Hope, we know that healthy families and communities are founded upon the self-reliance of hardworking individuals. We want to help good people like Anthony find their way to grow and mature, so that they can build strong healthy families unhindered by generational poverty. We believe that people deserve the support to build a brighter future for themselves and their children.
We’re proud to report that Anthony accepted the offer to enroll in our employment workshop to learn the skills he needed to support himself. Anthony was able to learn the trade skills to find a job as a cell phone repair technician. His financial success has led him to fulfill other dreams and goals – he was able to get married and is on his way to saving up to buy a home.
