You probably know that Park City is home to the Utah Olympic Park, which hosted several events during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
But lest you think sports and Sundance are its only claims to fame, the city has published a list of more than 25 additional accomplishments that will make residents beam with pride.
Here are five of our favorites, highlighting Park City’s friendliness, technological know-how and much more.
Google eCity Award (2013): This means Park City has the strongest online business community in Utah.
Best Active Town (2013): Moss doesn’t gather under the residents of Park City. In fact, it just avoids the place altogether. That’s why Outside magazine named it the Best Active Town in America. (Click here to read the feature story published in Outside’s August issue.)
Voice of the People Award for Excellence (2012): Park City government doesn’t just talk a good game; it also takes time to hear residents and improve its customer service. The community qualified for the award by being in the top 10% of more than 500 jurisdictions nationwide in a prestigious survey database.
Thomas A. Martin Utah Recycler of the Year (2012): Thanks to efforts by the Park City Municipal Corporation, 360 cubic yards of recyclables were removed from community events in just one year. No trash talk here!
Leaders for Life Anti-Bullying Program Participant (2012): Thanks to the hard work of the Park City Police Department, several schools have integrated Leaders for Life—a program that teaches students to protect one another and build friendships instead of engaging in bullying. Police also worked with other state agencies and lawmakers to pass a bill preventing bullying in schools for grades K-12!
