After being dropped from service and placed in long-term storage in the 1960s, our “Skytrain” was taken out of mothballs and given a new lease on life transporting “smokejumpers” for the Forest Service in the 1970s. It had more than 16,000 miles on its airframe when it was given to the museum in 1984.
