Did you know that skin type, hair color, and other external factors can affect the results of your laser hair removal treatments?
So who will have the best results?
As a general rule, light-skinned patients with dark, coarse hair see the best results. The darker a patient’s skin, the more likely the patient will need multiple treatments to see good results.
Patients with dark hair have better luck with the treatments because dark hair has more pigmentation, which allows more of the laser light to be absorbed. Lighter hair doesn’t absorb the laser light as much, so patients with light hair may need extra treatments to see results.
Be warned that laser hair removal does not work on those with white or gray hair because there is no pigmentation to absorb the laser.
If you’re planning to undergo laser hair removal treatments, do not tan in the days beforehand. Even if you’re naturally light-skinned, a tan can affect how the laser will take to your hair.
