Now you’re stuck with a haircut you didn’t want, and the uncomfortable task of letting your hairstylist know that you’re not satisfied. Don’t get caught in this situation ever again. Here’s what you can do to get the most out of your next hair cut.

First and foremost, you should bring lots of pictures. Get specific! Show him or her pictures of the cut you desire from different angles. Show what you like and don’t like about each of the style samples you’ve brought in. That way, you and your stylist with have a clear vision for the look you want to achieve.

Don’t be afraid to speak up! Your hairstylist wants to do a good job. They want you to walk out feeling confident and attractive, so that you’ll visit them again when you need another trim. If you’re on the chopping block and something doesn’t seem right, speak up early.

Let your stylist know that she may have gone too short, so that she doesn’t continue cutting. Remind her that you have temperamental hair and that layers make your hair go crazy.
