Tatneft V Ukraine

Even as the bloody war in Ukraine grinds on, it has impacted pending cases all over the world. One example of this is in the $112 million arbitration case between Russian oil company Tatneft and Ukraine.

Before Russia invaded Ukraine, Tatneft was pushing for discovery in the case in D.C. federal court. Meanwhile, Ukraine expressed concerns that opening its financial records could put the country at risk if the information were leaked to the Kremlin.

Eventually, the D.C. court sided with Tatneft and allowed the discovery to move forward. That was, until Russia invaded Ukraine. Now, that discovery has been put on hold as a result of the invasion.
