Consider less invasive—and less expensive—ways of capturing light

A goal of many remodels is to bring in more natural light. However, before you cut a big hole in the side of your house and rearrange the framing, consider less invasive—and less expensive—ways of capturing light. Updating window coverings with new technology, for instance, can allow much more light than outdated shades.
