IRS gives out $110 billion in tax credits to nonqualifiers

Here’s a hunk of cash the government could have used. The Treasury Department determined that the IRS erroneously paid out $110 billion in tax credits over the last 10 years. One-fifth of all payments intended for low-income families went to individuals who didn’t qualify.
