Exciting news! CopperView Medical now has the COVID-19 Vaccine!
We received our first shipment of Moderna Vaccine, which has been shown to be extremely safe and effective. We are hopeful that we will continue to be restocked weekly from the Utah Department of Health.
The vaccine comes in vials that contain 10 doses, so to the best of our ability we will be scheduling patients in groups of 10, spread out over a few hours. Due to strict requirements from the state regarding administration, monitoring after the dose and documentation, the vaccinations will not be given at routine appointments at this time. We will schedule patients at specific and various times throughout the week.
The Moderna vaccine is currently approved only for 18 years and older, though it is anticipated that it will be approved for ages 12-17 by mid-June. It is a mRNA vaccine that requires two doses at 4-6 weeks apart. We will schedule your second dose at 4 weeks, but the studies that were done had a window of 4-6 weeks, so if you can’t do exactly 4 weeks, that’s okay. The vaccine will be administered inside our clinic in a designated room in a specified area for post vaccine observation.
Appointments to receive the vaccine may be scheduled by phone, Facebook messenger, or requested via MyMedPrime portal. Phone is likely to be the most efficient because of the specific timing and instructions. We are excited to be able to offer the vaccine in a comfortable location from doctors you know and trust. It’s just another way we are here to help serve and care for our patients. And, just to help put any fears or concerns to rest, we have created a video message to help answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccination.
